City Police hold workshop on Foreign Nationals Tracking System

Mysuru:  The City Police had organised a sensitisation workshop for owners of hotels, lodges, apartments, boarding homes, home-stays, Clubs, paying guest accommodations and hostels on the steps to be taken to check the credentials and travel documents of foreign nationals before providing accommodation to them.

About 500 people from the aforementioned category participated in the workshop held yesterday at SDM Institute of Management Development at the foot of Chamundi Hill here.

Anandatheertha of National Informatics Centre, Bengaluru briefed the participants through a power-point presentation on how to collect the details of the foreign nationals and upload them through Form-C and Form-S to the City Special Branch of Police. He added that the move was at the instruction of the Union Ministry of Human Resource Department as part of the Foreign Nationals Tracking System.

Briefing the gathering, DCP N. Vishnuvardhana said that the city receives about 8,000 foreigners from 90 nations and close monitoring of their stay was essential. Citing an example he said that seven students had overstayed in city even though their Visa had expired in 2012. Hence, he stressed the importance of reporting to Police about the arrivals and departures of foreigners.
