National Energy Conservation Day celebrated at IEI

Mysuru: Rachana Energy Care Managing Director Anil Kumar has expressed concern over global warming due to generation of power from thermal power plant.  

He was speaking at the National Energy Conservation Day organised by Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL) at the Mysuru Local Centre of the Institution of Engineers (India) here recently and said government is promoting greater use of Renewable Energy and at the same time shifting towards supercritical technologies for coal-based power Plants.

He explained the importance of National Energy Conservation Day and also Energy Conservation Act 2001 highlights and said, “The Importance of Energy Conservation was realised by the world in the aftermath of the oil shocks of 1973 and 1979. For this Central Government felt the need to provide statutory measure to establish statutory authority by the name Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) under Ministry of Power, Government of India. Accordingly, the Energy Conservation Bill was introduced in 52nd Parliamentary on 29th September 2001.”

There are various schemes available in BEE to save electricity like Standards and Labelling, Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC), Demand Side Management Scheme (DSM), Agriculture DSM, Municipal DSM, EE in Small and Medium Enterprises Sector, Designated Consumers, he said.
