Mysuru: With the senior Police officials not suspending Nazarbad Sub-Inspector Yellalinga for allegedly assaulting advocate and BJP Youth Wing President Gokul Govardhan, who had visited the Police Station on Jan. 21 evening to lodge a complaint in connection with the illegal activities going on in a Government School premises, about 100 members of Mysuru and Bengaluru Bar Associations held a closed door meeting to chalk out the future course of action at the Association office in the Court premises here this morning.

Sources said that the advocates were holding discussions whether to stage a protest in front of Nazarbad Police Station or opposite to the Courts or on the Ring Road or to take out a massive protest rally.

They also held discussions whether the incident was deliberately done and the part of advocate Gokul Govardhan and SI Yellalinga in the incident. Sources also said that, while the group of senior advocates and their Bengaluru counterparts were holding discussions to submit a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner seeking action, a group of junior advocates were discussing to take out a protest march from the Court premises to City Police Commissioner’s office and submit a memorandum to the Police Chief seeking suspension of SI Yellalinga.

Meanwhile, following the call by the advocates of a massive protest rally to be taken out today in city, Police security has been provided near the Court and DC office which is led by Saraswathipuram Inspector Nagegowda, Ashokapuram Inspector Omkarappa and Lakshmipuram Inspector Raghu, which is being supervised by KR Sub-Division ACP Dharmappa.

At the meeting, which was led by Mysuru Bar Association President C.V. Ramamurthy and Bengaluru Bar Association President Shivamurthy, in which Mysuru Bar Association Vice-President Prabhu, Secretary Suresh, Treasurer Prasanna and others were present, it was decided to submit a memorandum to City Police Commissioner Dr. A. Subrahmanyeswara Rao by going on a bike rally.

About 50 advocates went on a bike rally to the City Police Chief’s office, when we went to the Press.

It may be recalled that following the assault incident on Jan.21, the advocates had staged a protest in front of Nazarbad Police Station on Jan.22. They had also boycotted Courts proceedings on Jan.23, 24 and 25 and had staged protests in front of the Court complex seeking suspension of SI Yellalinga, who has been transferred to another Police Station.
