Mysuru: The Fifth Additional District and Sessions Court has sentenced a man to seven years imprisonment and a fine of Rs.25,000 for murdering a man on July 27, 2014.
While the accused has been identified as Raju alias Kumar Nayak, a resident of Muneshwaranagar, the victim has been identified as Raju’s neighbour Nataraju.
On July 27, 2014 night, Raju, who was drunk, was creating ruckus near the house of Nataraju which was questioned by him (Nataraju). Irked over this, Raju, who went into his house, came out with a knife and stabbed Nataraju killing him, before absconding.
Vidyaranyapuram Police, who had registered a case in this regard, had submitted a chargesheet against Raju to the Court.
Judge C.M. Joshi, who heard the arguments from both sides, found Raju guilty of the crime, sentenced Raju to seven years imprisonment and a fine of Rs.25,000 and an additional six months simple jail term if Raju fails to pay the fine.
Public Prosecutor Nagappa C. Makman argued on behalf of the Government.
