Sir,
As indicated by Dr. Mahadeviah in this column (SOM dated Feb. 23), it is true that once the Maharani’s Women’s College for Commerce and Management starts functioning from Valmiki Road, the already busy Valmiki Road becomes more busy especially during working hours.
As such it is very difficult either to enter or come out of CFTRI campus from its West-side Gate located on this Road. Many minor accidents were reported earlier at this point. As the road is wide and pothole and hump-free, all types of vehicles including cars and two-wheelers move very fast and it is becoming difficult for CFTRI school children, who come on cycles, or staff to take a turn at this point.
This was brought to the notice of the officials concerned long time back during Public-Traffic Police Monthly Meetings and requested them to provide road dividing blocks opposite to the CFTRI Gate. However, no action was taken so far.
A Subway may not be a workable proposition as its maintenance and upkeep will be difficult for MCC, as many already existing Subways are not that effective in solving the problem. Hence, cement blocks may be installed from Hunsur side point to Adipampa Road Cross with a gap at CFTRI Gate. This step also regulates haphazard movement at the petrol bunk on Hunsur Road side.
Action in this regard needs to be taken up proactively before any fatal accident takes place.
