Mysuru: More than 4,000 job aspirants attended the three-day Divisional-level Mega Udyoga and Skill Mela that began at the Maharaja’s College Grounds this morning. Thousands more are expected to attend the Mela which will conclude on Mar. 5.
The Mela is being organised jointly by the District Administration, Labour Department, Employment and Training Department and Skill Development Corporation.
There are 10,744 job vacancies in private companies of which 4,894 are in the Mysuru region and the remaining 5,850 in other regions. Over 100 companies including Britannia, Acutus InfoTech, BVM Promoter Tech, Credit Access Grameena Limited and People Management Services, to name a few, are participating in the Mela.
Nearly 10,000 to 15,000 job seekers who have passed SSLC, PUC and Degrees and undergone training have registered. Aspirants from the neighbouring districts including Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Mandya and Kodagu apart from Mysuru District are participating. Even as the job interviews were going on at various stalls put up at the venue, officials of the Skill Development Corporation were providing training on the finer aspects of facing interviews and group discussions. The salaries on offer range from Rs.5,000 to Rs.25,000 per month depending on the candidate’s skill and knowledge including proficiency in English.
Apart from informative stalls, seven to eight rooms in the neighbouring Maharaja’s College will be used for interviewing candidates and imparting skill development training tomorrow as more aspirants are expected. Lunch will be served to the aspirants.
Earlier, Sugar and Small Industries Minister Dr. Geetha Mahadevaprasad who inaugurated the Udyoga Mela, said that the present government is doing everything to provide jobs to the youths and in this direction a separate Skill Development Corporation has been opened to impart skill development training to the youth so that skilled manpower is available. This will help in economic and social development of the State.
Chief Minister Siddharamaiah will distribute appointment letters to few of the youths who secure jobs during the Udyoga Mela on Mar. 5 at the Valedictory function.
