Headless woman’s body puzzles Police

March 5, 2018

Mysuru: A headless body of a woman whose torso was cut into two pieces with one hand missing is proving to be a headache for the City Police. The woman’s identity has not yet been established despite efforts by the Police and the body is lying at the JSS Medical College Mortuary.

Police said that this was the first such case in the city where a woman’s body is chopped into pieces and dumped in a water body with head and hand missing. Now the Police have decided to cremate the body this evening.

The body was found on Mar.1 at a pond behind a bridge near Kalasthawadi village on Mysuru-Bengaluru Road. Farmers, on their way to their fields, found the body and informed the Police Control Room, which in-turn alerted the jurisdictional  Metagalli Police.

The age of the woman is around 35 to 40 years and the Police suspect that she would have been raped  and murdered.

Despite several searches in the vicinity, the Police did not find the woman’s head and the hand. Killers might have cut the head to hide the identity, said the Police. They also suspected that the woman might have been murdered on Feb.28 or on the morning of Mar.1.

Metagalli Inspector Sunil Kumar and Narasimharaja Assistant Commissioner of Police Umesh G. Shet told Star of Mysore this morning that they have passed on the information across the State and have not got any leads so far.

CDR analysis and investigation have not yielded any results and the Police have not been able to establish the identity. “Finger prints and foot prints have been collected and we found a match in Kanakapura. But the age does not match. There is no missing persons complaint filed that matches the woman’s age. We have alerted our counterparts across the State and no one has claimed the body so far,” they said.

“We have collected vital samples from the body so that it will help future investigation and we will cremate the body this evening as it is already four days and we cannot keep it anymore,” the Police added.
