Ganapathy Swamiji to present Healing Concert this evening

Mysuru: Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji of Avadhoota Datta Peetham will be presenting ‘A Music for Meditation and Healing Concert’ at B.N. Bahadur Institute of Management Sciences auditorium, Hunsur Road, today (Apr.15) from 6.30 pm to 8 pm as part of the workshop ‘Music and Heart.’

Prior to the concert, an introduction on ‘Healing Music’ will be given by Dr. P.V. Phanishree from 5.45 pm to 6.15 pm.

Sri Ganapathy Swamiji is a renowned spiritual giant, who has through his versatile music performances all over the globe been able to successfully demonstrate the therapeutic efficacy of Music.

He has mastered the various combinations of notes and ragas and their effects on the living and non-living. He then adopted the Datta Veena (modified synthesiser) to produce his compositions in all perfection.

Sri Swamiji is a great composer of the present time and has composed more than 5,000 varied songs in several languages and has produced more than 200 albums.

A globe trotter, Sri Swamiji has performed in the most reputed auditoriums of the world like Royal Albert Hall in London, Opera Hall in Sydney, and various prestigious auditoriums and stadiums in India and has attracted both novice and scholars.

He has successfully brought out the intricacies of his concept and experiences of healing music in a compendium titled ‘Ragaragini Nada Yogamu’ in Telugu and English. He has been awarded Hon. Doctorate in Music by Hampi University in recognition of his contribution to music. He holds eight Guinness Records to his credit under various categories.

His music is popular in several hospitals, schools and educational institutions in India and abroad, in the radio stations in several countries, in orphan homes, home for destitute and elderly. Many people with psychosomatic ailments, chronic incurable ailments, terminally sick patients, Jail inmates, Police personnel are using his music for stress reduction and are finding immense benefit.

Sri Swamiji encourages both passive and active therapy and emphatically states that one need not be a musician to enjoy the therapeutic effect of music. Each raga has been associated with a therapeutic effect  on the listener.

For best effect during a passive session (listening), one should sit comfortably or lie down with closed eyes, simply allow music to flow, not to intellectualise about the process, concentrate on the gaps in between the notes. Listening regularly is beneficial.
