KIADB’s hollow promises in Mysuru

The civic infrastructure in Mysuru’s primary manufacturing belt has hit a frustrating low, exposing a systemic cycle of superficial fixes and abandoned commitments.

Following a scathing report in Star of Mysore detailing the horrific state of local industrial corridors, repair crews briefly arrived, secured their photo opportunities and vanished.

Instead of executing genuine road engineering, laying compacted stone aggregate and heavy-duty hot-mix asphalt, the crews simply dumped loose sand into deep craters.

The very first light drizzle washed away the fill, causing the surface to cave in and exposing open, treacherous trenches.

For tax-paying manufacturers, this failure is a severe breach of trust. On a single two-kilometre stretch from BEML Junction to Eagle Solar, drivers must navigate 30 to 40 massive potholes clustered around stormwater drains and utility road cuts.

Expecting multi-crore enterprises and heavy transport trailers  to run on mud tracks damages supply chains and vehicle safety alike.

The contrast with flagship hubs like the Bidadi Industrial Area is stark. Bidadi’s engineered, multi-lane corridors project  operational excellence to global investors.

In contrast, bringing clients through Koorgalli’s cratered roads actively undermines corporate credibility and regional investment potential.

Temporary fixes and PR exercises must end. The KIADB should be ashamed and must take genuine accountability, return to the site and construct a heavy-duty, properly engineered road capable of handling  standard commercial traffic.

Industrial tax-payers deserve functional infrastructure, not abandoned sandpits.
