A visit to Livelihood Centre

Mysore/Mysuru: Rotary Club of Mysore West, under its aegis runs Paul Harris Vocational Training Institute (PHVTI) at the premises of Rotary West School in Kanakadasanagar,  Mysuru.  

The Institute offers training for women in tailoring, fashion designing, embroidery, artificial jewellery-making and saree falls; paper bag-making, spoken English, basic computer operation and solar water heater repairs for both men and women. 

Recently, some of the teachers and trainees of the Institute visited Viveka Rural Livelihood Centre at Kenchanahalli, H.D. Kote taluk. The Centre is run by Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM), an NGO dedicated to the welfare of tribal population of H.D. Kote taluk.  

The teachers and trainees of PHVTI interacted with the staff and the trainees of the Centre and exchanged their skills and expertise on the training courses conducted, according to a press release from Dr. N.G. Malleshi, Director, Vocational Services, Rotary Club of Mysore West.
