Week-long centenary celebrations from tomorrow

The week-long centenary celebrations of Abhinava Shankaralaya, Mysore, will be held from Mar.30 to Apr.6 at its premises in Sri Sringeri Shankara Mutt, Fort Mohalla here.

Jagadguru Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam will grace the celebrations. Additional Solicitor General of India N. Venkataraman will be the chief guest on the occasion.

About Abhinava Shankaralaya                     

Among the four Amnaya Peethams established by Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankara Bhagavatpada, the incarnation of Lord Paramashiva and the rejuvenator of Sanatana Dharma, the Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham at Sringeri is adorned with an unbroken lineage.

The 33rd Acharya of the Peetham, Jagadguru Sri Sacchidananda Shivabhinava Nrisimha Bharati Mahaswamiji, was famously called as “Abhinava Shankara” owing to the similarities of His life with that of Sri Shankara Bhagavatpada.

At the revered Acharya’s birthplace in Mysore, Maharaja Sri Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar constructed a beautiful temple in accordance with the directive of the 34th Acharya of the Peetham and renowned Jivanmukta, Jagadguru Sri Chandrashekhara Bharati Mahaswamiji.

In 1924, on Rudhirodgari Samvatsara Phalguna Krishna Ekadashi, the Jayanti Day of His revered Guru, Jagadguru Sri Chandrashekhara Bharati Mahaswamiji consecrated a beautiful murti of His revered Guru in the temple.

In 1980 (Raudri Samvatsara), the 35th Acharya of the Peetham, Jagadguru Sri Abhinava Vidyatirtha Mahaswamiji and the current Acharya, Jagadguru Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahasannidhanam consecrated the murtis of Goddess Sri Sharadamba and Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankaracharya in Abhinava Shankaralaya.

Abhinava Shankaralaya has thus been shining as a great dharmic centre for all Astikas of Mysore for a century now.

When the devotees at Mysore sought the blessings of Sri Mahasannidhanam to celebrate the centenary of Abhinava Shankaralaya, Jagadguru Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahasannidhanam consented. With the blessings of Sri Mahasannidhanam,  Jagadguru Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam will be in Mysore from Mar.30 to Apr.6 (Phalguna Krishna Panchami to Dvadashi) to conduct the centenary celebrations of Abhinava Shankaralaya.

As part of the celebrations, many dharmic and social events including inauguration of the newly constructed “Sri Sacchidananda   Vilasa” (Gurubhavana), Maharudra and Shatachandi Yagas for the welfare of humanity, “Shatakoti Rama Shastri Smaaraka Shaastra Sabha”, Veda Sadas, Mahakum-bhabhisheka of Sri Sharadamba, Sri Adi Shankaracharya, Sri Satyanarayana Swami, Sri Mahaganapati, Sri Sacchidananda Shivabhinava Nrisimha Bharati Maha swamiji and Navagrahas, Parayana of the Vedas, Guru Vandana and Shankara Stotra Parayana Samarpana will take place.

All Astikas are requested to participate in the centenary celebrations and be a recipient of the benign blessings of Sri Sharadamba, Bhagavan Sri Chandramoulishwara and the Sringeri Jagadgurus, according to a press release from H. Ramachandra, Dharmadhikari, Abhinava Shankaralaya, Mysore and  Guru Seva Nirata P. A. Murali, CEO and Administrator, Sri Sringeri Math and its Properties.

PROGRAMME schedule

Mar. 30 – 9 am: The celebrations will commence with Sahasra Modaka Ganapathi Homa; 6 pm – Arrival of Jagadguru Sri Sannidhanam from Hebbasuru; 7 pm – Inauguration of “Sacchidananda Vilasa” Gurubhavana and Sabhabhavana.

Mar. 31 – 9 am: Sankalpa of Maha Rudra & Shata Chandi Yagas; 10.30 am – Darshan to devotees, Pada Puja, Bhiksha Vandana; 4.30 pm -Visit to various temples and Dharmic institutions.

Apr. 1- 8 am : Visit to Nanjangud.

Apr. 2- 9 am: Shatakoti Rama Shastri Smaaraka Shaastra Sabha commences; 10.30 am – Darshan to devotees, Pada Puja, Bhiksha Vandana; 4.30 pm – Visit to various temples and Dharmic institutions.

Apr.3 – 8.30 am: Veda Sabha commences; 9 am – Kumbhabhisheka at Shri Prasanna Vishveshwara Temple; 10.30 am- Public Darshan, Pada Puja, Bhiksha Vandana; 4.30 pm – Visits to temples & Dharmic institutions; 5.30 pm – Valedictory function of Shaastra Sabha & Veda Sabha.

Apr. 4 – 8.30 am: Kumbhabhisheka at the Sannidhis of Sri Mahaganapati, Sri Satyanarayana, Sri Shankaracharya & Punah Pratishthapana of Navagraha Murtis; 10.30 am – Public Darshan, Pada Puja & Bhiksha Vandana; 4.30 pm – Visits to temples & Dharmic institutions; 6.30 pm – Abhinava Shankara Karuna Vilasa – Asheervachana to distinguished representatives of institutions & descendants of disciples blessed by Jagadguru Sri Sacchidananda Shivabhinava Nrisimha Bharati Mahaswamiji.

Apr. 5 – 8.30 am: Kumbhabhisheka at the Sannidhis of Sri Sharadamba and Jagadguru Sri Sacchidananda Shivabhinava Nrismha Bharati Mahaswamiji & Shikhara Kumbhabhisheka; 11 am –  Public Darshan, Pada Puja and Bhiksha Vandana; 5.30 pm – “Guruvandana” programme, public function organised by devotees of Mysuru.

Apr. 6 – 9 am: Public Darshan, Pada Puja & Bhiksha Vandana, Mantrakshata to all devotees; 5.30 pm – “Shaankara Stotra Parayana Samarpana” organised by Vedanta  Bharati & Shankara Tattva Prasaara Abhiyana, Anugraha Bhashanam by Jagadguru Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam, Benedictory speech by Sri Shankara Bharati Swamiji of Yadathore Shri Yoganandeshwara   Saraswati Math.

Apr. 7 – 8.30 am: Departure to K.R. Nagar.
