Mysuru: Over two lakh people will be served tasty food at the three-day 83rd Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana that is scheduled to begin in city from tomorrow at the sprawling Maharaja’s College Grounds.

While arrangements for the mega literary festival are being made, special attention is given to food section as people will crowd the venue to taste delicacies that are chosen from across Karnataka. According to organisers, the menu will represent Karnataka’s ethos with special focus on Mysuru region.

A budget of Rs. 2.7 crore has been allotted to the Food Committee and along with the delegates, public too can have a chance to savour the dishes. Breakfast will be served to over one lakh people and lunch to over 2 lakh people.

As the focus of the Sammelana will not only be literature, but also food, the Food Committee is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the event goes off smoothly. At a meeting of Food Committee held yesterday chaired by Committee Chairman D. Dhruvakumar who is also the MUDA Chairman, he requested the co-operation of all committee members and volunteers.

He asked volunteers to ensure cleanliness at the surroundings of the food counters – Maharaja’s College Grounds, Ursu Boarding School premises and Scouts and Guides Grounds – and there is proper waste disposal mechanism.

The committee must ensure that food will be distributed in an orderly manner and there is a proper mechanism for waste disposal.

Food will be served to over 2 lakh participants at 180 counters. In each counter, over 35,000 people can relish the delicacies. Food will be prepared by 1,200 cooks and served in three locations by 3,000 volunteers.
