Mysuru:  Following seminar sessions will be held in city during Kannada Sahitya Sammelana (Lit Fest) to be held from Nov.24 to 26:

At Maharaja College Grounds

Nov. 24 (Friday)

Session 1 (2 pm): Education – Current Challenges. Kannada Development Authority Chairman Prof. S.G. Siddaramaiah to preside. T.M. Kumar to talk on ‘Primary Education – Kannada on the verge of extinction’; Dr. Jayaprakash Mavinakuli to talk on ‘Higher Education – Challenges on Quality’; Dr. Vishnukanth Chatapalli to talk on ‘Kannada Medium – Employment                                              Opportunities.’

Session 2 (3.30 pm): Dalit Issues. Dr. Dharanidevi Malagatti to preside. Dr. H. Dandappa to talk on ‘Dalit Movement – Contemporary Challenges’; R.B. Agavane to talk on ‘Handling violence and insult’; Dr. Shivarudra Kallolikara on ‘New forms of Untouchability.’

Session 3 (5 pm): ‘Media – Future Challenges.’ H.R. Ranganath to deliver keynote address. Thimmappa Bhat to preside. N. Ravishankar to talk on ‘Social Media’; N. Uday Kumar on ‘Print Media’; Ajith Hanumakkanavar to talk on ‘Electronic Media.’

Nov. 25 (Saturday)

Session 4 (9.30 am): Women – New World. MLC Jayamala to deliver keynote address. Dr. Vijaya to preside. Dr. Sabiha Bhoomi Gowda to talk on ‘Exploitation of women under various garbs’; Dr. N.K. Lolakshi on ‘Contemporary Cultural Politics’; Dr. M.S. Ashadevi on ‘Roads to Self Liberation.’

Session 5 (11 am): Agriculture in Karnataka – State of Transition. Former VC Prof. Bisilaiah to preside.  Dr. Narayanagowda to talk on ‘Alternative Agriculture Models and Possibilities’, Dr. Siddana Gowda Patil to talk on ‘Challenges of Agriculture Markets’; Dr. Vasanthkumar Thimkapura to talk on ‘Lessons of Drought Management.’

Session 6 (12.30 pm): Research in Kannada and Criticism. Dr. B.A. Viveka Rai to preside. Dr. Keshava Sharma to talk on ‘Kannada Criticism – New Dimension’; Dr. Amaresha Nugadone will talk on ‘Kannada Research – New Interests’; Dr. Purushothama Bilimale will talk on ‘Kannada Research – Future Steps.’

Session 7 (2.30 pm): Social Justice – Legacy of Kannada. Dr. C.S. Dwarkanath to preside. Dr. Malali Vasanthkumar to talk on ‘Role of Social Justice in Kannada tradition’; K.Y. Narayana Swamy to talk on ‘Social Justice in Ancient and Medieval Poetry Tradition’; Dr. Mogalli Ganesh to talk on ‘Modern Kannada Literature and Social Justice’; 4 pm: Felicitation Ceremony. Former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda will be the chief guest. Senior Littérateur Dr. Go.Ru. Channabasappa will deliver the keynote address. Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Dr. Manu Baligar  will be present.

Nov.26 (Sunday)

Session 8 (9.30 am): Contemporary Situation: Challenges of Plurality. Prof. Kalegowda Nagawara to preside. Dr. Padhan Gurudutt to talk on ‘Basic Spiritual Arguments on Nationalism’; Dr. Veeranna Dande to talk on ‘Intolerance’, Dr. Vinaya Okkunda to talk on ‘Predicaments of Freedom of Expression.’

Session 9 (10 am): Kavigoshti – 1. Dr. Siddalinga Pattanashetty to preside. Dr. Jayanth Kaikini to deliver the keynote address.

Session 10 (2 pm): Interaction with Sammelana President Dr. Chandrashekar Patil (Champa). K.T. Chikkanna to be the moderator. Dr. Manu Baligar to preside. Open session at 3.30 pm.

4.15 pm: Valedictory. Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Anathkumar, Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Govt. of Karnataka, H.K. Patil  will be the chief guests. Senior Littérateur Dr. H.S. Venkatesh Murthy will deliver the valedictory address.

Sammelana President Dr. Chandrashekar Patil will address the gathering. Dr. Manu Baligar will preside. Transport Minister H.M. Revanna, Karnataka Cooperative Apex Bank Chairman K.N. Rajanna, Government of Karnataka Delhi Representative  Appaji C.S. Nadagowda and Senior Littérateur C.P. Krishnakumar will be present. MLA Kalale Keshavamurthy, MLCs K.T. Srikantegowda, Dharmasena, K.V. Narayanaswamy and University of Mysore Acting Vice-Chancellor to be the  special invitees.

Taranath to talk on ‘Contributions of Wadiyars’, Dr. Pruthvidatta Chandrashobi to talk on ‘Administration during Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan’; Prof. D.S. Jayappagowda to talk on ‘Role of Dewans.’

Session 2 (4.30 pm): Unification of Karnataka. Prof. Maleyuru Guruswamy to preside.  Apparao Akkoni will deliver the keynote address. Dr. K.N. Ingalagi will talk on ‘Regional Inequality: Challenges and Solution’; Dr. Jaganath to talk on ‘Cauvery to Godavari – An Overview’; Dr. Balasaheba Lokapura to talk on ‘Border Areas: Crisis’.

Nov. 25

Session 3 (10 am): Marginalised Communities. Prof. K.S. Bhagwan to preside. G.K. Mahantesh to talk on ‘Speically-abled’; Dr. Meenakshi Bali on ‘Transgenders’, Dr. M.K. Gurulingaiah to talk on ‘Tribal Communities.’

Session 4 (12 noon): Irrigation in Karnataka. K.S. Puttannaiah to preside. Capt. (retd.) Rajarao  to talk on ‘Cauvery – Recent Developments’; H.N. Konareddy to talk on ‘Mahadayi, Kalasa, Bandoori – Controversy and Solution’; Prof. Narasimhappa to talk on ‘Yettinahole – Pros and Cons.’

Session 5 (2.30 pm): Yuvagoshti on ‘Nanna Haadu Nannadu’. Dr. D.K. Chittaiah Pujara to preside. Dr. M.N. Nandish Hanche to speak on ‘Optimum utilisation of youth power.’ Misbha Mehreen to talk on ‘My Education  – My Language’; Dr. Dhammuru Mallikarjun to talk on ‘My Caste – My Religion’; Dr. M.N. Session 6 (4.15 pm): Kavigoshti – 2. Prof. Allamma Bettadur to preside. B.A. Sanadi will deliver the keynote address.

Nov. 26

Session 7 (9.30 am): Pro-People Movement. Satish Kulkarni to preside. Prof. Ravi Verma Kumar to deliver the keynote address. Chamarasa Malipatila to talk on ‘Farmer Movements’; R.N. Chandrashekar to talk on ‘Kannada Movement’; Varalakshmi to talk on ‘Labour Movement’; Dr. L.G. Meera  to talk on ‘Women Movement.’

Session 8 (11.30 am): Technology in Kannada. K.A. Dayanand will preside over the session on ‘Implementation of e-Administration: Problems’. Anatha Koppara will deliver a keynote address on ‘Employment Opportunities in IT&BT sector.’ Dr. U.B. Pavanaja will speak on ‘Kannada Language: Uses of Software.’ Vasanthashetty to talk on ‘Digitalisation of Kannada Scriptures.’

Session 9 (2 pm): Science and Technology: Use of Kannada Language. Dr. P.S. Shankar to preside. A.N. Yellappa Reddy to deliver a keynote address on ‘Environment Science’. Dr. C.R. Chandrashekar to talk on ‘Psychology’;  Dr. Vijayalakshmi Balekundri will talk on ‘Medical Science’; Udayashankar Puranika will talk on   ‘Technology Sector.’

Nov. 25

Session 1 (10 am): Children Literary Meet. Jayavantha Kadadevara to preside. Boluvaru Mohammed Kunhi will deliver the keynote address. Prof. Chandregowda Kulkarni to talk on ‘Children’s Literature: Modern Challenges’; Sania Dhannura will talk on ‘My Country – My Land’; Kumara Anthakarana to talk on ‘My Tomorrow – My Dream’; P.G. Siddapura will talk on ‘Children Literature: Recent Trends.’

Session 2 (11.30 am): Kavigoshti – 3. Dr. Latha Rajashekar to preside. Mohana Nagamma to deliver the keynote address.

Session 3 (2.30 pm):  Arts in Karnataka. Dr. M.S. Murthy will preside and talk on ‘Paintings’. D.N. Damodhara Shetty will talk on ‘Theatre’; Dr. R.N. Srilatha to talk on ‘Music’, Ramya Nagaraj to speak on ‘Dance forms’, Dr. Kabbinale Vasanth Bharadwaj to talk on ‘Yakshagana.’
