ADGP in city, holds crime review meeting

Mysuru: Even as rising crimes of various nature have caused concern among citizens, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP-Crime)  Dr. M.A. Saleem held a crime review meeting of Southern Range and the City Police Commissionerate at the DGP suite opposite the SP Office Circle in Nazarbad here today.

During the course of the meeting, Dr. Saleem was apprised on the statistics and other vital details sub-division-wise and district-wise on crimes such as murder, chain-snatching, extortion, house burglary, cyber crimes, cheating, molestation cases, crimes against women and children, bank robberies and other thefts.

The meeting discussed in detail the occurrence, detection and prevention of crimes and the ways, means and measures to curb such crimes and check anti-social activities.

The ADGP, apart from giving tips to Police Officers on preventing crimes, reviewed year-wise crime details and suggested appropriate use of modern gadgets and technology to detect crimes, with  criminals finding newer means to execute crimes. The meeting discussed issues such as women and child safety, security of elder citizens, who are soft targets for criminals, it is learnt.

The ADGP also took stock of the progress made in the investigation into important cases registered in different Police Stations in the Southern Range.

IGP Umesh Kumar, City Police Commissioner K.T. Balakrishna, DCP M. Muthuraj, Chamarajanagar SP Dharmendra Kumar Meena, who currently holds additional charge of Mysuru, Hassan SP Chetan Singh Rathore, Kodagu SP Suman D. Pennekar, Mandya SP Shivaprakash Devaraj, Mysuru Additional SP Sneha and other top Police Officers attended the meeting. The media was barred from covering the proceedings.
