Mysore/Mysuru: The Government School for the Deaf, under the Karnataka Government, has started admission process for the year 2026-27. This institution is providing free education and residential facilities to children with hearing impairments.
Admission Requirements: Age limit for admission to Class 1 should be between 5 years 10 months and 9 years. Children, who have not yet enrolled in school due to disability or deaf boys who are already studying in other schools and wish to join this institution, are eligible for admission. The institution offers education from Class 1 to 10.
Special features and facilities of the institution: This school is completely run under Government facilities, and free accommodation and food facilities are provided to boys. Girls are provided free education as external students (Day Scholars) and speech training is provided through smart classes, smart TV and speech trainer.
In addition, free textbooks, beds, blankets and medical facilities are provided and there is a spacious playground and various sports equipment.
Interested eligible candidates can get direct admission by carrying with them Disability Identity Card issued by the Department for the Empowerment of Differently Abled and Senior Citizens/ Confirmation letter of speech and hearing impairment obtained from All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH), Manasagangothri, Mysuru; Birth Certificate; School Transfer Certificate (if one wants to get admission from another school/institution); Income/ Caste Certificate; Photocopies of Aadhaar Card, Ration Card & Bank Passbook and 6 passport size photos.
