Air Pollution: MCC slaps fine on Mysore University

Mysuru: Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has imposed a fine of Rs. 10,000 on Mysore University for violating Air Pollution Control Act. On Jan. 1, 2020 at 4.30 pm, fire was lit to the dust bin containing plastic and other wastes in front of the Chemistry Department resulting in the fire emanating thick toxic smoke causing air pollution. 

MCC Commissioner Gurudatta Hegde on Jan. 10 has issued a notice in this regard, asking the Varsity Vice-Chancellor to deposit the fine of Rs. 10,000 to the MCC besides warning of initiating legal action if the violation is repeated.
