Mysuru: Observing that most of the fire accidents occur due to negligence, Mysuru Zone senior Fire Officer Younis Kauser Ali has stressed on the need for public to avert fire mishaps.

He was speaking at a public awareness programme organised at Hebbal Fire Service Station in Hebbal Industrial Area here yesterday.

Pointing out that investigation into the recent fire accidents in and around the city has revealed that most of them occurred due to negligence, Kauser Ali said that awareness on preventive measures to be taken in case of fire emergencies, would go a long way in preventing major fire accidents.

Noting that most of the employees in malls, offices, factories etc., will not be knowing how to use the fire extinguishers, Ali said that it was important for every family member to be the in the know of immediate measures to be taken in case of LPG leak.

He gave demonstration on the measures to be taken in case of domestic fire accidents.

More than 70 petrol bunk staff, industrial employees, gas agency owners and others from Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, Chamarajanagar and Kodagu districts took part. Regional Fire Officer Eshwar Nayak, Fire Officers K.P. Gururaj, Mahadev, Bharathkumar, Naveen Kumar, P. Chandan and others were present.
