Mysuru:  “Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, apart from being the Father of the Indian Constitution, played a crucial role in two Dalit Movements aimed at liberating Dalits from the clutches of untouchability,” said Manorakhitha Bhanteji of Jetavana Buddha Vihar, Kollegal.

He was speaking after inaugurating Dr. B.R.  Ambedkar Samsmarane (Commemoration) programme organised by Maharaja’s  College Extracurricular Activities Committee at the College Centenary Hall here yesterday.

Pointing out that Dr. Ambedkar spearheaded Lake Water Consumption Movement in Maharashtra and Dalit entry to Kalaram Temple, Bhantheji said that Dr. Ambedkar always thought of uplifting the Dalits and other oppressed sections of society.

He further said that there was never a black spot in the 35-year public life of Dr. Ambedkar.
