Anathalaya starts admission for free boarding, lodging facilities

The Anathalaya on Narayana Shastry Road (N.S. Road) in city has started admission for free hostel facility for Brahmin students studying 1st PUC, Professional or Post-Graduate courses. Free boarding and lodging facilities will be provided, besides imbibing Brahminical culture.

History: Anathalaya is a 135-year-old institution esta-blished by Dayasagara M. Venkatakrishnaiah, popularly known as Mysore Thathaiah. He was a philanthropist, journalist, educationist and people’s representative in the erstwhile Mysore State Self-Governance Council and above all, a social reformer for emancipation of women through vocational training.

The institution (Anathalaya) is run by donations collected from philanthropists and former inmates, making it self-sustaining to provide better basic amenities to the students.

The Boys Hostel is located opposite Sri Raghavendra Swamy Mutt on N.S. Road and is well-equipped with rooms on a sharing basis, with hot water supply for bath and hygienic food cooked by Brahmins in the premises. Three-time meals including breakfast, lunch and dinner is provided, along with milk in the morning and evening hours.

The students will also be covered under a Group Insurance Scheme to take care of their minor illness. Sandhyavandana is mandatory to imbibe Brahminical culture among the students. Students must participate in regular pujas during festival and compulsorily attend yoga classes.
