Andhra-based minor girl rescued

December 14, 2022

Mysore/Mysuru: Anti Human Trafficking Unit Police personnel, with the help of a city-based organisation, have rescued a minor girl from Andhra Pradesh at Suburban Bus Stand in city.

Acting on a tip off, the Police, who reached the Bus Stand, rescued the minor, who was with two women and brought her to the Anti Human Trafficking Unit in Women’s Police Station and conducted an enquiry.

Though the women, who were with the girl, told the Police that they were her (minor girl) relatives, they were not clear with their statements and hence, the girl was handed over to the Girl’s Balamandira, said Devaraja Sub-Division ACP M.N. Shashidhar.

A personal counselling will be held with the minor girl and if at all it is found that the minor girl was being brought to push her to flesh trade, a case will be registered and legal action would be initiated, the ACP said and added that action will be taken based on the report pertaining to whether the two women are the relatives of the minor or not; for what purpose the girl was brought to Mysuru; the girl’s parents etc.

The Police received information that the two women, after providing breakfast to the minor girl at a hotel, were bringing her to the Bus Stand in an auto. The auto driver, who brought the women and the girl to the Bus Stand, left them and went away. The women and the girl were boarding a bus towards Bandipur side, the Police conducted an operation and rescued the minor girl, it is learnt. Police said that though the two women were subjected to interrogation, their statements have given rise to doubts.
