Anganawadi workers stage protest in city

Mysuru: Members of Mysuru District Committee of Karnataka State Anganawadi workers and Assistants Federation staged a protest in front of DC’s office here this morning urging the government to fulfil their long-pending demands.

The members said that they have been involved in the implementation of various government schemes like ‘Mathrupoorna’ and ‘Mathruvandana’ but regretted that they were not provided any retirement benefits like pension. They sought total implementation of National Pension Scheme, upgradation of mini Anganawadi Centres, ESI and PF benefits and Voluntary Retirement Scheme for the deserving workers.

The Federation has organised similar protests at all taluk and district centres of the district today.

Committee office-bearers Mahadevamma, Jayamma, Prema, Lalitha, Nagamani and others were present.

A memorandum was submitted to the DC later.
