Clarifies Anganwadi Workers’ Association

Mysore/Mysuru: The Karnataka State Anganwadi Workers’ Association has clarified that Doddamaragowdahalli Anganwadi worker Sumathi was transferred as she was not reaching the Government benefits to the people and the officials are not at fault in her transfer.

Addressing a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan here on Monday, Association District Organising Secretary Pushpalatha said that the villagers had complained against Sumathi and opposed her transfer to their village. Also, another Anganwadi worker Lalitharani, who was travelling from DGM Halli to Maraiahnahundi daily, had requested transfer.

She further said that at the same time, villagers were upset over Sumathi’s work. Pushpalatha alleged that Sumathi had not distributed rations during COVID pandemic to villagers but had obtained signatures of all and hence she was transferred.

Pointing out that it was not correct on the part of Sumathi accusing officials for her transfer and added that it was wrong on the part of Sumathi to attempt suicide by consuming poison in front of Anganwadi children.

Pushpalatha further said that Anganwadi workers will state a Statewide protest on Mar. 4 to urge the Government to fulfil their various demands.

Association office-bearers Latha, K. Sujatha, Leelavathi, Mangalagowri, Jayanthi and Gowramma were present during the press meet.
