Anubandha: Annual Conference of Inner Wheel District – 318 this evening

Mysuru:  Anubandha, the 48th Annual Conference of Inner Wheel District-318 will be inaugurated this evening at 6 pm at Basanth Convention Centre in J.P. Nagar here.

Dr. Kapila Gupta, International Inner Wheel President, will be the chief guest at the Conference hosted by six Inner Wheel Clubs of Mysuru City.

Patricia Hilton, Association President of Inner Wheel and Rtn. G. N. Prakash, Governor, Rotary District – 3182, will be the guests of honour. District – 318 Chairman  Jayashree M. Urs  will be present at the Conference which concludes tomorrow (Dec.24).

The first Inner Wheel Club was started in England in the year 1924 by Margaret Oliver Golding. The first Club was started at Manchester and 28 wives of Rotarians joined the Club. The emphasis was on Friendship and Service to the Community. The number of Inner Wheel Clubs gradually increased necessitating the formation of Inner Wheel District.

Inner Wheel District-318 was formed in the year 1967. It comprises  the revenue Districts of Chamarajanagar, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Coorg, Dakshina Kannada, Mysuru, Shivamogga and Udupi. There are 43 Inner Wheel Clubs in the District.

Inner Wheel Clubs lend institutional support to the cause of women. As women need protection from cradle to old age, the Clubs support Girl Child Education, Vocational Education and Computer Learning. In 2017-18, District – 318 has supported “TEACH” programme. The Clubs have trained 1,635 teachers, recognised 192 teachers as “Nation Builders” and also have extended support to 20 Government Primary Schools during July-November 2017 to become “Happy Schools”.

Some of the projects undertaken by the Clubs include Medical Check-up Camps, Free Eye Camps, Immunisation Programme, Distribution of Medicines, Providing Safe Drinking Water and Upgrading School Library.
