Appointed as Chief Advisor to Khadi and Village Industries Commission

July 28, 2020

Mysore/Mysuru: Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), a statutory body under Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, has appointed Dr. Sudarshana Ramaraju of Mysuru as Chief Advisor, Strategy and Sustainable Development to KVIC.

Sustainable Development has been a globally adopted principle of modern governance and has been very meticulously structured by the United Nations. 193 countries, including India subscribe to these principles and the national programmes and policies are mapped to the goals of the UN Sustainable Development programme.

KVIC is a key organisation of the Government of India for the execution of these initiatives, which are expected to help in the resurgence of rural India, adaptations to climate change, strengthening of village industries and establishing life in harmony with the changing environment.

Earlier to this, Dr. Sudarshana has served the United Nations Security Council as a senior functionary and helped sustainably develop the war damaged nations and environments to their pre-conflict situations. Prior to that, he has worked for years under the Regional Seas Programme of the UN Environment in coordinating the Persian Gulf Member States towards protecting the Persian Gulf space.

Before serving the United Nations Secretariat, Dr. Sudarshana also coordinated the UN Regional Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in the Asia Pacific and headed the planning matters of India’s earth observation applications at the Indian Space Research Organisation.

Being avid organic farmers, Dr. Sudarshana’s family also runs “Farmer’s House”, an outlet in the Mysuru city.
