Arun expands artistic endeavours after sculpting Ayodhya Balak Ram

July 10, 2025

Mysore/Mysuru: The busts of Maharshi Valmiki, Bhagiratha Maharshi and Kanakadasa, to be installed at Chamarajanagar DC’s Office, are envisioned to be crafted in a uniquely distinguished style. Discussions are underway to finalise the type of stone and the complete artistic concept will be finalised shortly.

Following the nationwide acclaim for sculpting Balak Ram idol for Ayodhya Sri Ram Temple, renowned Mysuru-based sculptor Arun Yogiraj has seen a surge in demand, with commissions pouring in from across India and abroad. He recently completed assignments in London and Africa and is increasingly being sought after to craft primary idols for temples under construction across the country.

Speaking to Star of Mysore, Arun revealed plans to establish a dedicated institute for sculpture arts, in response to the growing national and international demand for skilled idol-makers. He is now widely regarded as the foremost sculptor for temple idol projects across India.

Among his upcoming assignments is a 12-foot Vishnu idol in Vishwaroopa Darshana form, slated for installation at Kurukshetra in Haryana. Additionally, the Maharashtra Government has proposed a 30-foot Vishnu statue and has formally invited Arun to undertake the project.

Discussions for both projects are in advanced stages and formal approvals are expected soon, he added.
