Arya Vysya Political Committee formed; Inauguration on Mar. 7

March 4, 2021

Mysore/Mysuru: With a view to create political awareness among Arya Vysya community and to promote those who are interested to join politics, Arya Vysya Political Committee has been formed and it will be inaugurated on Mar. 7.

Disclosing this at a press conference at Pathrakarthara Bhavan here yesterday, S.K. Dinesh, Honorary President of the newly-formed Arya Vysya Political Committee said, since long their community had been into business and entry into politics was very rare. Claiming of rights was difficult without political power for which they had to infuse political force into the community.

Besides, creating awareness on rights and responsibilities in the community, this Political Forum will also encourage those who wish to enter politics. Keeping all these factors in view, the Political Committee has been formed, he added.

He said after registration of the Committee, response among the community people has been very good across the State. The response was more from Nanjangud, Hunsur and K R Nagar in Mysuru district, from where the community people have shown interest to take membership. Seeing the response, a State-level Committee will be formed soon, he noted.

To contest elections

Dinesh said the Committee would encourage those who wish to contest all the elections. In the coming days, each person among the community will be identified in each ward to prepare them to contest in the future Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) polls. In the current situation, the community’s  growth was impossible without political power, he said.

Arya Vysya Political Committee General Secretary Puttu Srinivas, who also spoke, said the community was known for piety and upholding righteousness, and has been a loyal tax payer to State and Union Governments. But the facilities of Governments were not available for them.

Issuing caste certificate for the community has been stopped. Of late, youths were disappointed over non-availability of Government facilities and as a result they held discussions with the community elders to start a Committee to protect their interests, he said and added that soon after the inauguration, the Committee will address their problems.

He said only a few persons belonging to Arya Vysya community were in politics and one among them is Hunsur MLA H.P. Manjunath. The community has a strength of 8-10 lakh in the State and around 2,500 persons are expected to participate in the inaugural function.

Around 30 percent of population is poor. They are involved in small business of making churumuri and condiments. A majority of them don’t have shelter. Steps must be taken to extend all facilities to them from the Government including caste certificate, said S.K. Dinesh Hon. President, Arya Vysya Political Committee.

Hardly a few people of the community have come out of traditional business. It is important to enter politics without sticking to profession. The community leaders, irrespective of political parties, must be given full support by the Committee, says Puttu Srinivas General Secretary, Arya Vysya Political Committee.
