At the Crossroads Shankar Bellur’s book released at BVB

January 12, 2020

Mysuru:  “Technology-based learning is being used in our schools and colleges to teach students. But just using technology is not enough. Invention of technology should be taught to the students,” opined Unilog Content Solutions Chairman K. Achyuta Bachalli.

He was speaking as the chief guest at the function organised at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB) in Vijayanagar here for the release of the book ‘At the Crossroads,’ authored by Shankar Bellur which was released by Bhavan’s Priyamvada Birla Institute of Management (BPBIM) Chairman  N. Ramanuja yesterday.

Continuing, he said, “We have brought technology into classrooms and teachers are conducting classes by giving Powerpoint presentations. Students are now using Tablets. Though these are good moves, we are only using technologies but we have fallen behind in teaching how these technologies were invented.”

Discussions on our education system and challenges to be faced by us in future is the need of the hour, Achyuta said and added that the internet had changed our lifestyle and the education system. “In this modern world, what all changes are taking place should be understood. It is true that increase in technologies was reducing jobs, but these technologies are creating new job opportunities, which we should not forget,” he added.

N. Ramanuja, who also spoke, said that the book ‘At the Crossroads,’ written by Shankar Bellur, provides academic and professional guidance to the students and also contains a lot of                           information.
