Attempt to murder girl student: Accused student to be suspended from college

Mysuru:  A student of Yuvaraja’s College, who had attempted to murder his classmate, after she refused his proposal following which an attempt to murder case was registered against him at Lakshmipuram Police Station, will be suspended from the college.

A decision in this regard has been taken by the University of Mysore (UoM) Vice-Chancellor Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar.

The accused student, identified as 21-year-old Rohit, a final year B.Sc student at Yuvaraja’s College and a resident of Gundlupet, on Feb.15, had proposed his love to his classmate, who rejected it. Irked over her refusal to accept his proposal, Rohit had assaulted the girl using a blade besides assaulting her friend too, who came to her rescue.

Lakshmipuram Police had registered an attempt to murder case against Rohit. Following the registration of the case, the UoM has taken a decision to suspend Rohit from the College.——
