Australia thrash India by 9 wickets to make series 2-1

March 3, 2023

Indore: Australia recorded an emphatic nine-wicket victory over India, winding up the third Test in little over two days to secure their place in the World Test Championship (WTC) final on a rank turner in Indore today.

Travis Head (49 not out) and Marnus Labuschagne (28 not out) survived some anxious moments before seeing through the game for Australia in just 18.5 overs as the match got over in little over two days. Wins in India comes rarely for the visiting teams and it was no different for Australia, who recorded their first victory on Indian soil in six years with this emphatic win.

For India, it was only their third defeat in the last 10 years and they will need to rework their plans ahead of the final Test, beginning in Ahmedabad from Mar.  9.

Needing a mere 76 runs for victory, Australia reached the target losing just one wicket (Khawaja) in the first session of the third day, with over two days remaining.

Brief Scores: India- 109 &163. Australia- 197 &78/1.
