Mysore/Mysuru: In a collective effort to promote awareness, acceptance and inclusion for individuals on the autism spectrum, Devdan Foundation has organised an Autism Awareness Walkathon on Sunday in city.
The Walkathon will commence at 6.30 am from Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple near Mysore Palace and will conclude at University of Mysore Oval Grounds.
The initiative is being held in association with Paddha Trust, Rotary E-Club Mysore, Project Reach Out Mysore and Eshwar Vidyalaya, Choranahalli, Mysuru. It aims to bring together people from all walks of life to foster a better understanding of autism and to support individuals and families affected by it.
Addressing media persons in city recently, Shubha Urs of Mysuru Book Clubs and Jayanti Balal, Fasion designer, along with Devaiah Kotera and Ballachanda Dhanya Uthappa, Founders of Devdan Foundation, highlighted the importance of early intervention and community awareness.
Sangeetha, Trustee of Paddha Trust, Bopanna, Rotarian from E-Club Mysore and Kishore Bidappa, Proprietor of Eshwar Vidyalaya, Mysuru, also stressed the need for active public participation in building an inclusive society.
