Automated DL test: A suggestion

October 23, 2021

Sir,

Apropos the letter of K. Chandrahas in SOM dated Oct. 18, I would like to add that the automated driving test is good for the new Driving Licence (DL) aspirants.  However, I do not foresee reason for a senior citizen to undergo tests, though he is driving safely his vehicle for more than decades.

Added to this, present vehicles have rear vision camera with alarms fitted and drivers of yesteryears are prone to peep from window or through rear vision mirror which may be time-consuming, still worth safe.  Hope, the RTO authorities would look into this and continue DL renewals as was being done earlier.
