Chamarajanagar: Syndicate meeting of University of Mysore (UoM) has taken a decision to continue autonomy of nine colleges which are functioning in the Varsity ambit, said Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, UoM.
Talking to reporters after the Syndicate meeting at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar PG Centre here recently, he said that the meeting has decided to continue the autonomy of nine colleges (2 in Hassan, 2 in Mandya and 5 in Mysuru) for next academic year.
They are Government Arts, Commerce & PG College and Government Science College of Hassan; Government Women’s College and Government College of Mandya; JSS College for Arts, Commerce & Science – Ooty Road, JSS Women’s College – Saraswathipuram, St. Philomena’s College – Bannimantap, SBRR Mahajana First Grade College – Jayalakshmipuram and Maharani’s Science College for Women – JLB Road, all in Mysuru.
Appointment of lecturers
The VC said that the meeting also decided to send a proposal to the State Government seeking permission to appoint 30 lecturers for the Chamarajanagar PG Centre. The Government has returned the proposal twice citing COVID-19 pandemic reason.
However, since the PG Centre was in backward district of Chamarajanagar, Higher Education Minister Dr. C.N. Ashwathnarayan has been briefed about the need for giving nod to appoint 30 lecturers in students’ interest.
UoM Registrar (Administration) Prof. R. Shivappa, Registrar (Evaluation) Dr. A.P. Jnana Prakash and Finance Officer Prof. T.S. Devaraj and other Syndicate Members were present.
