Aviation security training for  Mysuru Airport staff

September 5, 2017

Mysuru: A five-day Aviation Security Induction Training programme for Police personnel of Mysuru Airport at Mandakalli will be held from Sept. 11 to 15, said Mysuru Airport Director Manoj Kumar Singh.

Deputy General Manager- Security, Airports Authority of India (AAI), Southern Range, Chennai, Dr. T. Sukumar, Senior Manager (Security) Jyothi and Mysuru Airport Security Unit in-charge and Police Inspector H.N. Balakrishna will lead the training programme that will cover airport security, luggaging, baggaging, checking of each passenger, runway, fire accidents and other such incidents, Singh told SOM.

This is the first time that such a training has been organised for Police personnel of the airport. In all, 59 people will be trained. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security conducted a survey in Mandakalli airport and submitted a report to the AAI suggesting that the Mysuru airport required 68 security staff including one ACP, one Inspector and 12 ASIs.

At any given time there are only 34 security personnel present since they would be deputed to other places.  The airports require 24X7 security and hence personnel is required to man the airport in three shifts. Hence, a proposal was sent to AAI in this regard, which has now been sanctioned, he said.

Air Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhaduria and his family will visit Air Force Selection Board in city on Sept. 18,  said Singh.
