Avishkara theatre fest from Apr. 15

Mysuru – Avishkara, a progressive cultural forum, will be conducting a two-day theatre festival and a day-long Soviet film festival from Apr. 15 to Apr. 17 at Javaregowda Park in Saraswathipuram and MMC&RI Platinum Jubilee Auditorium respectively.

The event will be inaugurated by Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies, retired  Professor and Soviet Land Nehru Awardee Prof. H.S. Harishankar on Apr. 15  at 6 pm. Forum convenor T.R. Sunil will deliver the introductory address. Forum convenor P.S. Sandhya will preside.

This will be followed by a recital of progressive songs and kolata by Chalana Troupe, Mysuru.

Later,  artistes of Green Kids Samskruthika Seva Trust, Periyapatna, will stage the play ‘Tereyo Bagilanu’ written by Kishan Chandar and translated by K. Venkatraju and Syed Manjoor Ahmed. The play is directed by Chitra Venkatraju.

On Apr. 16: Niranthara Foundation will stage the play ‘Kuri’ written by Sarveshwara Dayal Saxena and directed by Somashekar Sira and Riyaz Shivamogga at 6.30 pm. This will be followed by the staging of the play ‘Hosa Haadi Hosa Payana’ by Avishkara Troupe. The play is written by Radhakrishna Upadhyaya and directed by V. Ajay Nag.

On Apr. 17: Russian movie ‘Ballad of a Soldier’ will be screened at the Platinum Jubilee Auditorium in JK Grounds at 11 am. Critic Prof. V.N. Lakshminarayana will be the chief guest for the valedictory at 6 pm. Another film Chapaev will be screened at 6.30 pm.

Avishkara District Co-ordinator B. Ravi will deliver the valedictory address. Avishkara Member H.N. Ranjitha will  preside.
