Awards ceremony marks Dr. Raj birth anniversary in city

Mysore/Mysuru: On the eve of 93rd birth anniversary of matinee idol late Dr. Raj Kumar, several programmes were held at various places in city this morning.

Under the aegis of Dr. Raj Seva Samithi, the bust of Raj Kumar at the Karnataka Exhibition Authority premises was garlanded by D. Devaraj Urs Backward Classes Development Corporation Chairman R. Raghu Kautilya and Karnataka Exhibition Authority (KEA) Chairman Hemanth Kumar Gowda.

Later, Raghu Kautilya presented Karunada Kanmani Award to the following nine achievers: Ambale Shivanna (Veerabhadra Kunitha), M. Ramegowda (Founder President of Akhila Karnataka Dr. Raj Abhimanigala Sangha), R. Chakrapani (Social Service), S.E. Girish (Social Service), Srinath Babu (Social Service), Amulya (International Yoga Expert), Manjunath (Theatre Artiste), Paramesh (Social Service) and Dr. Mohan Kumar (Veterinary Surgeon).

MUDA member Lakshmidevi, BJP leader Yashaswini Som-shekar, Samithi President Sudheendra, Secretary Lohit and others were present.

At  Patrakaratahra Bhavan, Karnataka Sena Pade had organised a programme in which floral tributes were offered to the portrait of Dr. Raj and Dr. Raj Kumar Kannada Award was conferred on the following five achievers: Bharat N. Gowda (Organising), Maddikere Gopal (Kannada), B.H. Satish Kumar Gowda (Co-operative Sector), Dr. S.A. Narasimhagowda (Industry) and S.E. Girish (Blood Donation Centre). 

District Brahmana Mahasabha’s Dr. B.R. Nataraj Jois, Sena Pade District President Tejesh Lokesh Gowda and others were present.
