Awareness programme on Fire Safety at N’gud

Mysuru: Nanjangud Industries Association (NIA) had organised an “Awareness on Fire Safety” at its premises in Nanjangud on Apr. 10. Dr. B.R. Ravikanthe Gowda, Deputy Inspector General, Fire Force & Emergency Services, Bengaluru, who inaugurated, emphasised the importance of training in fire safety. He said more industrial workers will have to be trained under this kind of programme organised by the Department of Fire Force.

Mentioning the yeomen services of Fire Department staff, he also cited the examples of recent incidents of fire that took place in Bengaluru during Air Show which resulted in burning of 279 cars and collapse of a building under construction in Dharwad that claimed the lives of 19 innocent persons. He said if fire is not controlled in an early stage then the impact of the loss of human life and loss of property would be massive. The faculties were a group of experienced and trained Fire Officers from the Department of Fire Force.

There was also a mock demonstration of fire fighting methods as part of this awareness. Executives from different member industries of Nanjangud were present. M.S. Ramaprasad, President, NIA, welcomed.  B.S. Chandrashekhar, Secretary, introduced the chief guest. G.S. Nagaraju, Vice-President, proposed a vote of thanks.

Yunus Ali Kauser, Chief Fire Officer, delivered the valedictory address. In all, 116 participants including Safety Officers, Security personnel and Industrial Workers from factories in and around Nanjangud and Mysuru attended.
