Awareness rally on free education for all held

December 11, 2018

Mysuru:  Hundreds of Kiriyapushpa Kutumba Kalyana Kendra students and teachers took out an awareness rally on the main thoroughfares of Ashokapuram in city recently, sensitising the public on the importance of free and compulsory education for all.

Holding placards in their hands, they spread messages appealing public to send their children to school to ensure education, to utilise Pratibha Karanji platform to explore hidden talents of their children, on  the importance of Library and to end the practise of child labour.

Speaking after flagging off the rally, Industrialist G.V. Pinto urged parents to send their children to school as Government has made education to all children below 14 years free and compulsory.

“Earlier days, there was no much importance for education, but today education is a must for all to come to mainstream of the society. Children’s mind is like a clean slate, their future depends on what their parents write on clean slate,” he said.

As education commercialised in recent days and unaffordable for all, Government had enacted Right to Education and implemented several programmes to ensure education for all.

People should make use of this for empowerment of their children. People should also take pledge for eradication of child labour completely in the society, Pinto said.

Kiriyapushpa Kutumba Kalyana Kendra Director Fr. M. Martin, Member Shaila Lawrence, Alexander, Co-ordinator Anjali, Monika, Daniel John and Meenakshi were present.
