Backward Classes Commission Member visits Mysuru

Mysore/Mysuru: Karnataka Backward Classes Commission Member Rajashekar on Monday visited Puttegowdanahundi and Palya villages in the taluk and gathered data on the economic, academic and social conditions of Gowda Lingayat community members.

Rajashekar’s visit comes after Gowda Lingayat Mahasabha office-bearers led by Basavajaya Mrutyunjaya Swamiji met Karnataka Backward Classes Commission Chairman Jayaprakash Hegde and the Commission members  at Bengaluru recently and submitted a memorandum seeking to  consider Gowda Lingayats of old Mysuru region and Panchamasali Lingayats of North Karnatka region as one and the same and grant 20 percent reservation in jobs and education.

After visiting Puttegowdanahundi and Palya villages, Rajashekar held a meeting with Gowda Lingayat community members at the Government Guest house and heard their plea for granting 20 percent reservation to the community.Gowda Lingayat Mahasabha office-bearers Alanahalli Puttaswamy, Cable Mahesh, Ammanapura Mallesh, Palya Guruswamy, Thotaswamy, Mahadevappa, DooraManjunath, Shambu Patel, Backward Classes Welfare District Officer H.S.Bindiya, Taluk officer Chandrakala and others attended.
