Mysuru: Karnataka State Council for Science & Technology (KSCST) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, had jointly organised a State-level Seminar and Exhibition of final year Engineering Projects at Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology (BIET) College in Davangere recently.
The project titled ‘Rider Safety System Using Embedded System,’ carried out by the final year students — Rahid Ahmed, N. Purushotham, V. Thulasi and M. Chethan — under the guidance of Dr. L. Yathisha, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, ATME College of Engineering, Mysuru, was adjudged as the ‘Best Project of the Year.’
This project was supported by the Department of Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka and Department of Science & Technology, Government of India.
The project was implemented in real time on a Bajaj Pulsar Bike. The bike provides three-way safety to the owner/ driver.
The bike does not start without the helmet shown on bike, simultaneously detecting whether alcohol has been consumed by the driver plus without the thumb print of registered driver thereby avoiding bike theft, helmetless-driving as well as drunken-driving.
