Bandipur forest fire put off

The Bandipur forest fire which destroyed about 750 acres of forest area in N. Begur and Gundre regions was put off today morning after a three-day- long operation.

The Forest Department personnel including the tribals, who began to work extensively to extinguish the fire from spreading to other parts of the forest due to gusty wind, managed to put off the fire at about 6.30 am today.

Conservator of Forests T. Heeralal and staff took part in the operation.

Forest Minister B. Ramanath Rai too visited Bandipur yesterday to take stock of the situation.
