Banyan tree on Mysuru-Bengaluru road crying for attention

October 8, 2018

An age-old Banyan Tree located on Mysuru-Nilgiri road (near Gopura Park) which was being worshipped on Nagara Panchami and Sashti festivals is slowly dying as the surrounding of the tree up to above 4 ft. height is filled with concrete leaving no space for oxygen to enter the roots. This tree may fall sooner or later which may result in fatalities. Authorities concerned or environmentalists are urged to take steps to get the tree a breather by removing the contrete so that air could enter the roots to make the tree sturdy again.
