Mysore/Mysuru: The barricades laid on the Bengaluru-Nilgiri (BN) Road near the Sub-Urban Bus Stand will be removed if found unscientific, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Traffic) S. Jahnavi.
She was speaking to Star of Mysore this morning regarding the barricade laid ahead of the section where rental cars are parked. Over 15-ft of the road has been barricaded to an extent of over 250 metres, shutting down that section of the road.
The Mysuru Hotel Owners’ Association had taken objection to the barricading move.
In a press release, Association President C. Narayanagowda questioned the rationale behind erecting the barricade in an unscientific manner.
“This barricade serves no purpose and moreover it inconveniences the commuters. Previously, relatives of bus passengers used to park their cars on this side and pick them up after their bus journey. However, with the recent barricading and the installation of a no-parking sign, available space is wasted, and cars are now being parked in the middle of the road, creating an appearance of road closure,” he said.
Narayanagowda has urged the Police to remove the barricade. “I have not visited the place and I will eventually. If it is unscientific, the barricades will be removed,” the DCP said.
Meanwhile, Traffic ACP Parashuramappa said that the Devaraja cops had placed the barricades without the approval of the Inspector. “It is an unscientific barricade on the road. We will get it vacated,” he added.
