BCCI Men’s One-Day Tournament 2019: Gujarat scores over Baroda

Inspiring batting by Abhishek Desai (50, 68b, 5×4,1×6), Het J. Patel (47 n.o, 39b, 5×4, 1×6) and good bowling by medium-pacer Ishan Pandey (three for 40) enabled Gujarat to register a 26-run win over Baroda in a rain-hit 31-over game, in the Plate ‘A’ match of BCCI Men’s One Day Tournament at SDNR Wadiyar Stadium, here yesterday.

In a match reduced to 31-overs due to overnight rain, Gujarat won the toss and electing to bat scored 167/6 in 31 overs. In reply, Baroda were bowled out for 141 in 29.2 overs. Shlok Sandip Desai (27), Ashish Patel (25) and J. Kamlesh Singh (21) were the scorers. Ishan Pandey impressed for Gujarat taking three for 40. Gujarat won by 26-runs.

MP bowlers excel

Madhya Pradesh’s bowlers spearheaded by S.S. Sharad Solanki (three for 15) and ably supported by P. Sudhir Rai (two for eight) and Ankush Praveen Tyagi (two for eight), in a match reduced to 21-overs, bowled out Jammu & Kashmir for 71 in 19.5 overs. In reply Madhya Pradesh, scored 73 for three in 15.1 overs and registered a seven-wicket win. Opener D. Pravin Barnale top scored with 34-runs. In another match at PET, Mandya, Maharashtra registered a six-wicket win over Punjab to gain the maximum points.

Sharad Solanki 3/15) lost to Madhya Pradesh 73/3 in 15.1 overs (D. Pravin Barnale 34).

At Mandya: Punjab 163 in 40.2 overs (Abhinav Sharma 52, Mandeep Inder Bawa 39, Akshay Kalokhe 3/37) lost to Maharashtra 168/4 in 34.3 overs (Swapnil Fullpagar 48, Om Bhosale 42, D. Deshmukh 40 n.o).
