Inspiring batting performances by south-paw Luvnith Sujith Sisodia (86 n.o., 97b, 6×4, 2×6), B.R. Sharath (67, 76b, 6×4, 1×6) and Kishan S. Bedare (56 n.o., 65b, 6×4, 1×6) helped hosts Karnataka to register a facile six-wicket win over Madhya Pradesh in the ongoing BCCI Men’s U-23 One-day Tournament-2019 at the SDNR Wadiyar Stadium here yesterday.
Earlier, put into bat, Madhya Pradesh scored 234 for nine in 50 overs. Ankush Praveen Tyagi top scored with an unbeaten 64 (71b, 4×4, 1×6). Useful contributions came in from Nikhil Shraddhan and Mishra 49 (90b, 4×4) and Atul Lakshmi Narayan Kushwaha (27).
In reply, Karnataka scored 235 for four in 45.3 overs to register a six-wicket win. Luvnith Sujith Sisodia and Kishan S. Bedare were involved in an unbroken 112-run partnership for the fifth wicket which paved way for Karnataka’s six-wicket win.
Earlier, wicket-keeper batsman B.R. Sharath and Luvnith S. Sisodia added 101-run for the fourth wicket, when Karnataka were reeling at 22 for three at one stage.
Three-wicket win for Tamil Nadu
At JSS-SJCE Grounds, Tamil Nadu, helped by a 61-runs eighth-wicket unbroken partnership between Siddarth M. Manimaran (42 n.o., 39b, 6×4, 1×6) and R. Jaganath Srinivas (18 n.o.), registered a three-wicket win over Jammu & Kashmir.
Batting first, J&K scored 172 in 39.1 overs. Henan Nazir Malik top scored with 87 runs. In reply, Tamil Nadu, struggling at one stage at 119 for six, recovered well to score 177 for seven in 41 overs, to register a 3-wicket win.Meanwhile, at PET Grounds in Mandya, Vidarbha registered a seven-wicket win over Baroda.
