Bengaluru-based builder allegedly cheats flat buyers of Rs. 12 crore in Mysuru

Mysore/Mysuru: A woman has alleged that she and a few other people had been cheated of over Rs. 12 crore by a Bengaluru-based builder on the pretext of providing them flats at an apartment in Chamaraja Mohalla.

While the woman, who has been cheated is Kumuda, the Bengaluru-based builder, who allegedly cheated the flat buyers, is S. Manjunath.

Addressing a press meet at Pathrakarthara Bhavan in city on Thursday, Kumuda alleged that Manjunath began the construction of the apartment in 2016 and had not completed the works till date.

The construction was taken up as a joint venture and in the total of 24 flats, Manjunath had got 15 flats and the remaining nine flats were given to the land owners.

Pointing out that Manjunath had taken full amount for six flats and had taken more than 85 percent money for the remaining nine flats, Kumuda said that Manjunath had got Sale Deeds for a few and Sale Agreement done for a few persons. She also alleged that Manjunath had illegally got Sale Agreements done for three flats to three persons.

She further alleged that Manjunath, after receiving over Rs. 12 crore, has gone missing and added that Manjunath had given four to five addresses but he was not found in any of them besides stating that when a legal notice was sent to the given addresses, all the notices had returned.

Kumuda said that a complaint was lodged at Lakshmipuram Police Station and the Police had registered a case but Manjunath was preparing to secure bail.

She has urged the District Administration to initiate legal action against Manjunath and get back the money of those who had paid for the flats. Sarojini, Jayasimha, Shivakumar and others, who had paid for the flats, were present at the press meet.
