Mysuru: Karnatak music enthusiasts in Mysuru are in for a memorable musical experience as BSS Vidyodaya and RAAGA Music Academy, Mysuru, supported by Samskara Bharathi, are set to host this edition of Bhagini Raaga Sourabha featuring a Grand Karnatak Vocal Concert by the talented young vocalist Vidu. Ashwini Kolikkaje on June 20 at 6 pm at BSS Vidyodaya in Krishnamurthypuram.

Recognised as one of the promising young voices in Karnatak music, Vidu. Ashwini was initiated into music by her father Balasubrahmanya Bhat Kolikkaje and is currently undergoing advanced training under noted Mysuru-based musician Vidu. Koviladi R. Kala.

A musician of exceptional academic merit, she completed her Master of Music (M.Music) from the University College of Fine Arts, University of Mysore. She secured First Rank in B.Music with six Gold Medals and First Rank in M.Music with two Gold Medals, reflecting her commitment to both scholarship and performance.

She gained widespread recognition after emerging as the Title Winner of ‘Shankara Super Singer – Season 3’ conducted by Sri Shankara Channel in 2020. She further earned distinction by winning the prestigious Nada Kishora Concert Competition conducted by Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha, Mysuru and was conferred the title ‘Nadakishori 2022.’

Over the years, she has performed at several reputed cultural and musical institutions, including Ramabhyudaya Sangeetha Sabha, Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha, Ganabharathi (Mysuru), Thyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha and Ragasudharasa Sangeetha Sabha (Kasaragod) and Veenavaadini and Sri Hayagreeva Vadiraja Matha (Chennai). Her performances have earned appreciation for their classical depth, melodic richness and adherence to tradition.

For this concert, Vidu. Ashwini will be accompanied by Vidu. U. Thanmayi on violin, Vid. Nandan Kashyap on mridanga and Vid. Srinidhi Koundinya on ghata.
