Bharatanatyam programmes at Ganabharathi tomorrow

Mysore/Mysuru: Ganabharathi, Mysuru, has organised two Bharatanatyam programmes at Veene Seshanna Bhavan in Kuvempunagar tomorrow (Oct. 28) — 6 pm to 7.15 pm: Vid. Jyothi N. Hegde and troupe; 7.15 pm to 8.30 pm: Vid. Dr. Sahana Bhat and troupe, according to a press release from C.G. Ravishankar, EC Member, Ganabharathi, Mysuru. [Mob: 94483-23234]

PROFILES

Vidu. Jyothi Hegde is a student of well-known dancer of Mysuru, Vidu. Nandini Eswer and has completed her Vidwat. She also learnt ‘Ravindra Natyam’ from Guru Valmiki Banarjee, Mohiniyattam from Guru Kalamandalam Radhika and Kathak from Guru Pandith Thirtharam.

Vidu. Jyothi has started dance school ‘Lasyaranjani’ and has been teaching Tanjavur style dance for the last two decades. She has performed in many prestigious platforms and has been recognised by many well-known institutions.

Dr. Sahana Bhat imbibed the beauty of Bharatanatyam from her Guru late Ravidatar of Shivamogga and Nirmala Nagraj of Kalakshetra, Chennai. She has earned Doctorate in dance from Mysore University under the guidance of Dr. K. Kumar.

She has performed in major festivals across India and abroad. She has choreographed and performed in various Indian dance styles. To name a few, ‘Karnataka Vaibhava’, ‘Vivida Nrithya Bharati’ and ‘Ramayana Darshanam’.

She is honoured with many prestigious State, National and International Awards.

Dr. Sahana is nurturing a large number of aspiring students through the institution ‘Natyanjali Nrutya Kala Kendra’ in Hubballi since 1996.
