Bike Rally in city on July 26 to mark Kargil Vijay Diwas

Mysore/Mysuru: The Mysuru District Unit of Akhila Karnataka Ex-Servicemen Association and Rotary Heritage Club Mysore have jointly organised a bike rally on July 26 to mark Kargil Vijay Diwas.

Disclosing this at a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan here yesterday, Association District President K.P. Diwakar said that July 26 is celebrated as Kargil Vijay Diwas to commemorate  India’s victory over Pakistan in the Kargil War for ousting Pakistani forces from their occupied positions on the mountain tops of Northern Kargil district in Ladakh during 1999. “This victory of India is celebrated all over the country.”

“In this regard, a bike-rally has been organised for the second year to honour the contributions and sacrifice made by the soldiers for the country. The rally aims to create awareness among youths about patriotism,” he said.

General public aged above 18 years and who have Driving License (DL) are eligible to take part in the bike rally which will be taken out from Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa Circle (Metropole Hotel Circle) at 8.30 am after offering floral tribute to the bust of K.M. Cariappa. The rallyists must compulsorily wear helmets. The rally will pass through JLB Road, Babu Jagjivan Ram Circle (Railway Station Circle), Irwin Road, New Sayyaji Rao Road, Prabha Theatre Road, Gandhi Square, Clock Tower, Chamaraja Wadiyar Circle, Bengaluru-Nilgiri Road, Gun House Circle, Ekalavya Circle, New Kantharaj Urs Road and will reach Rotary West Auditorium in Saraswathipuram.

MLAs S.A. Ramdas and L. Nagendra, MLC C.N. Manjegowda will be the chief guests. At 10.30 am, a stage programme to felicitate ex-servicemen will be held at Rotary West Auditorium in Saraswathipuram, Diwakar said.

Rotary International (RI) District 3181 District Governor (2023-24) H.R. Keshav, Assistant Governor K. Manjunath, Association District Gen. Secretary H.S. Nanjundaswamy, Rotary Heritage Club Mysore President Suresh, Secretary M.P. Prabhakar were present.
