Bizmen seek 10 crucial projects to give boost to ‘Brand Mysuru’

May 5, 2023

Mysore/Mysuru: The National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO), Mysuru, recently hosted a monthly meeting at Hotel Southern Star to discuss and interact on the mega project called ‘Brand Mysuru.’

It is for the first time in Mysuru, where NAREDCO, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Mysuru Hotel Owners Association, Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Association of India (CREDAI), Mysore Industries Association (MIA)  and the Indian Green Skills Council have come under one platform to discuss the ‘Brand Mysuru’ project.

The ‘Brand Mysuru’ project aims to position Mysuru as a comprehensive and well-equi-pped city capable of contributing to the Central government’s target of five trillion dollar economic transactions. Mysuru is set to establish its domi-nance in semiconductor unit manufacturing, natural therapy, and yoga, much like Bengaluru Silicon Valley in Asia.

The session was held with the intention of showcasing Mysuru as a brand to the outside world. The panellists felt that Mysuru’s potential has been realised only 25 percent and the remaining 75 percent is still unexplored. “In 2011, a leading national newspaper ranked Mysuru fifth among the top destinations for tourism, industry and investment. Unfortunately, the growth has been stagnant,” felt NAREDCO Mysuru Chairman Divyesh.

To achieve international recognition, the State and Central Governments need to implement ten crucial projects as soon as possible in Mysuru region. These projects include construction of a semiconductor production ecosystem, a massive logistics zone, rapid connectivity with other cities for tourism growth and a world-class education sector by improving the existing education ecosystem.

In addition, there has to be a cinema production sector or a Film City in Mysuru, a massive industrial sector, a supplementary skill training zone for employment generation, implementation of metro rail project, construction of flyovers for quick connectivity in all directions and establishment of ‘Brand Mysuru Authority’ for hurdle clearance and quick implementation of everything concerning Mysuru.

The panellists included Chairman of Indian Green Skills Council, Mysuru, K. Sriram, Chairman of CII, Mysuru Sam Cherian, President of Mysuru Hotel Owners Association C. Narayanagowda, General Secretary of MIA Sureshkumar Jain and CREDAI Chairman D. Srihari. NAREDCO Mysuru Secretary M.L. Nagesh, Treasurer S. Paniraj and NAREDCO members were present.

As the next step, NAREDCO has decided to form a committee to take forward the ‘Brand Mysuru’ concept in the coming days. “We will invite the CEOs, CXOs, CFOs and COOs of airline operating companies and  project Brand Mysuru and urge them to operate flights, especially Mysuru-centric flights,” Divyesh said.

Apart from the panel discussion, there was also a technical talk by G.K. Sudheendra, architect, ‘Place Called Tomorrow’ on “Disruption in the construction industry — Robotics.”
