Boating services suspended at Ranganathittu

September 1, 2017

Srirangapatna: Owing to heavy rains and release of more than 11,000 cusecs of water from KRS to Tamil Nadu on Wednesday, the authorities have suspended boating services at Ranganathittu Birds Sanctuary as a precautionary measure.

The Forest Department has decided to withdraw boating services anticipating that the outflow would increase any time resulting in tourists returning back.

Ranganathittu Birds Sanctuary RFO Puttamadegowda said that due to increase in water flow and rise in water level, the tourists are unable to go for boating and hence the boating services have been suspended. However, the birds were safe despite increase in the water level, he added.
